At INTACT we’re on a mission to support Australian wool growers and pave the way for a brighter future in fashion. Our commitment to sustainability is not just a goal, it’s weaved within our brand DNA. Our commitment is first and foremost in our name. We believe in a circular future for fashion where responsibility, conscious choices and education lead the way.
NATURAL FIBRES
INTACT heroes Australian Merino wool, a 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre made with a simple blend of air, water and grass.
Natural fibres are the foundation of our range and for good reason, we can keep our environmental footprint to a minimum and focus on quality materials that can give back to our wearers. By championing this homegrown fibre, we’re not only supporting Australian wool growers but a better fashion future.
Conscious Consumption
We live in a world fueled by hyper-consumption where it’s estimated women only wear 20% of their wardrobe, 80% of the time.
INTACT is built on the foundations of a capsule wardrobe offering a select range of everyday wardrobe staples.
We hero a message of wear more, wash less, buy better and buy less. We’re not here to add to the noise, instead, we want to encourage people to rethink their wardrobe foundations and make informed decision when it comes to fashion choices.
We also work closely with our manufacturers to reduce the need for unnecessary waste throughout the supply chain, such as reducing the amount of single use poly bags and limited production runs with predominately knitted designs which allows us to minimise waste and use yarn efficiently, reducing our environmental impact.
STARTING WITH THE END IN MIND
Our design philosophy centres on creating timeless pieces that stand the test of time. We believe in quality over quantity, ensuring every garment we produce has lasting value.
Merino wool, a 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre, is the foundation of our range, our care and garment labels are made from 100% cotton, and all our packaging is biodegradable.
We are conscious not to add unnecessary embellishments and design features that will either contaminate or hinder a garments ability to be recycled or repurposed at the end of its life. By crafting durable, versatile pieces, we contribute to a circular ecosystem where longevity and style go hand in hand.
We are also committed to offering our customers a viable end-of-life solution for unwanted or damaged garments. That's why we have partnered with Little Forest Compost to test the effects our garments have on the soil. If successful, this will ensure our capsule range has a complete, INTACT circular solution.

Is Merino wool itchy? | Setting the record straight
One of the biggest misconceptions we’re tackling here at INTACT is that Merino wool is the same itchy, scratchy fibre you remember from your Nanna’s old hand-me-downs. You know, those dense, oversized woollen jumpers that could make even the most resilient among us cringe?
But we're here to tell you, Merino wool has a whole new game.
When done right, Merino wool isn’t just comfortable—it’s one of the most luxurious and gentle natural fibres (both on you and the planet) that you can add to your wardrobe.
And the INTACT capsule range of Australian merino wool clothing is all the proof that you need.
The Myth of Itchy Wool
So, why the bad reputation? Honestly, it stems from the perception of wool being reserved for thick winter sweaters or heavy outerwear. And sure, maybe decades ago, wool had its itchy moments, but through incredible innovation with the help of Woolmark, that’s all changed.
What Makes Merino Wool Different?
Merino sheep produce some of the finest and softest wool fibres on the planet. It’s not the rough, bulky stuff of the past—it’s finer, smoother, and feels incredibly soft and lightweight against your skin. Wearing Merino wool is like wrapping yourself in a cozy, breathable hug. And I’m not just saying that because I live in it!
Is Merino wool itchy?
Absolutely not! In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Merino wool is designed by nature to be soft and non-irritating. The days of scratchy wool sweaters are long gone.
Now, it’s all about easy, breezy, effortless layers that will help keep you INTACT from dusk til dawn, beach to bar and everything in between.
Why Is Merino Wool So Comfortable?
The magic of Merino lies in its fine fibres, which are much thinner than traditional wool. These fibres make it incredibly soft and gentle on your skin, while also allowing it to breathe.
As an active, natural fibre, one of the many benefits of Merino wool is that it works with your body, not against. Meaning when it's cold outside, it'll help trap the heat and when it's warm, it'll wick moisture away to help keep you cool and comfortable all day.
This is what makes it perfect for your everyday capsule wardrobe. Whether it's the INTACT merino wool tee or lightweight, merino wool long sleeve or the original and signature merino wool singlet, they're lightweight, breathable basics that can be worn on repeat, all year round, on their own or layered underneath.
What About Sensitive Skin?
Even for those with sensitive skin, Merino wool is usually a safe bet. Particularly fine wool with its natural softness and breathability, makes it a perfect choice for anyone with finicky skin. Think of it as the wool that redefines comfort—no itching, just soft, wearable luxury.
Final Thoughts
At INTACT, we’re here to show you that Merino wool isn’t just for winter, and it certainly isn’t itchy. It’s a versatile, lightweight, and unbelievably soft fibre that you’ll want to weave into your everyday wardrobe.
Whether as a base layer or a standalone piece, Merino wool is about comfort without compromise and the INTACT range, well, it's the perfect place to start building a capsule wardrobe and shop your new favourite merino wool clothes to make the switch to clothing made from natural fibres.
So go on, embrace the wool without the worry and join us as we inspire a new way to wear wool. It’s time to break those old myths for good.
