A phrase you’ve most likely heard thrown around, but what actually is slow fashion?

Slow fashion explained

In simple terms, the slow fashion ethos emphasises the importance of producing and consuming clothing in a more sustainable and ethical way. Encouraging a shift away from the fast-paced, disposable nature of fast fashion and ‘micro-trends’ and instead, leans toward a more thoughtful and considered approach to fashion.

Brand side

The slow fashion movement holds a steady focus on reducing waste, promoting ethical labor practices, and supporting local and independent designers and manufacturers. Often using high-quality, durable materials and producing clothing in limited quantities to reduce waste and overproduction. All things we’ve built into the INTACT brand DNA.

Consumer side

The movement encourages those to consider the environmental and social impact of their clothing choices, and choose clothing that is made in a way that is better for the planet and people involved in its production. This includes opting for clothing made from natural materials (like merino wool), supporting fair labor practices, choosing timeless, versatile pieces (like our capsule collection) and considering the garments end of life. Asking ourselves, instead of going straight to landfill can it be reused, recycled or repurposed?

Why do we care about slow fashion?

We want to support a better fashion future.

How do we do that?

It’s simple really.

INTACT is built on the concept of a capsule wardrobe and we’ve cemented circular principles from the outset.

From choosing to work with a fibre that is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable, we’ve started with the end in mind and leaned into the natural benefits of Merino wool, promoting the ‘wear more, wash less’ message and ultimately, aim to encourage those to rethink their wardrobe foundations through education.

For us, it’s really about challenging those outdated misconceptions around wool and instead, showcasing this homegrown fibre in a new light. By promoting its versatility and practicality across the seasons and offering an effortless way to blend natural fibres into the everyday, we can support those to tread a little lighter and make conscious and considered choices when it comes to the clothing they choose to wear.

Helping to keep your wardrobe (and footprint) INTACT.
